💜Four years ago today, we fell in love with Mexico City
When Covid hands you lemons, you make margaritas, right? Without the pandemic, we might never have visited this city. Now, we can't imagine our lives without its people, places, and charm.

Four years ago today, we stepped off our flight from Newark and into Mexico City for the first time. We didn’t know it, but we were stepping into a future we never saw coming.
The world was still mostly shut down with COVID-19 travel restrictions, and we hadn’t taken more than a single road trip—to drop off our daughter, belatedly, at college—in 15 months.
Paul, especially, was itching to travel, and he came across some YouTube videos about Mexico City. The more he watched (you know how those algorithms work) the more the city intrigued him.
“Hear me out,” he said, as he broached the idea of a trip. He hoped I would listen before I said what he predicted: “What about the kidnappings? The crime? The cartels?”
I watched some of those videos, and, like Paul, I discovered that Mexico City isn’t the dangerous, uninhabitable hellhole I had been led to believe from U.S. movies and media.
We fell in love with Mexico City. In our first 24 hours there, we discovered so much.
It’s beautiful:
It’s sprawling and diverse:
It’s proud of its heritage:
It’s full of culture and history:
And those are all things we learned about Mexico within the first 24 hours.
Since then, so much has happened!
We’ve enjoyed more delicious meals than we can count, from our favorites at our local cocina economica to the top fine-dining spots:

We’ve had our share of world-class cocktails:

We’ve been on some amazing adventures:

We’ve explored other cities in Mexico:

We bought an apartment:

We’ve made some incredible friends:

We wrote a book!
We can’t wait to see what the next four years bring! Come along with us on our adventures!
