Really, evaluate a place that is in Mexico because they do not speak English is ridiculous and cultural egocentric. Mainly when probably you cannot speak a word in other language.
That's not what we're doing. But thanks for the editorializing.
When we review a restaurant or other place here, we point out whether they are English friendly--via speaking and/or menus--to help the people who read this blog and our book. Those people are mostly English speakers who don't know Spanish. And it's likely that they will be visiting Mexico City for a short time and wish to make the most of that. They're not going to learn Spanish, let alone master it, before visiting.
Whether a place is English friendly does not factor into whether we do or do not recommend that place. We don't expect English here. We just note when it's available ... to help other people.
As for ourselves, we are actively learning Spanish and have been since we first came to Mexico four years ago. We respect this place and its people, and we try to speak Spanish as much as possible here.
