We’ve found at least 25 restaurants we love that are all within a 10-minute walk and mostly north and west of our apartment in Roma Norte. So we might never have discovered Taqueria Los Parados, which is a daunting 15 minutes away to the south.
Luckily, this highly rated taco stand in Roma Sur snagged a listing in the new Michelin Guide for Mexico, which means they’re recognized for their good cooking. That honor lured us in, and we were glad we made the trip.
They’ve specialized in grilled meat since they opened in 1965, and they offer a huge variety of tacos, quesos fundidos (melted cheese dip), volcanes (crispy corn tortillas with toppings) and more. We tried two of the tacos, the alambre de rez con queso (beef, bacon, chorizo, peppers and cheese) and the Al Pastor. They were both excellent.
If not in or near Roma Sur, there are several other Taqueria Los Parados locations throughout the city. We recommend stopping in for a taco or two (or three).
