I want to go up in the balloon, but my husband doesn’t. I know he’d love to do the additional add-ons. From your description it sounds like maybe the ballon launches and returns to the same place. Is that correct? It would be great if he could just stay in that same place so he can join after!

Yes, the balloons land wherever they land and a van takes you back to the launch site, and then on to breakfast and the pyramids. I bet you could make arrangements for him to skip the balloon part and at least he could watch the launch!

I've been to watch them take off, which is magical! I have no desire to be IN one but I'm very happy to see you enjoyed it!

Ha ha yes, as much as I'm a fan I get that it can be a little too far outside the comfort zone!

Quite a bit too far! But they're lovely to watch from the ground too.

We were only in SMdA once, but I remember seeing a balloon floating across the sky there. They really are magical! I hope you get to visit Mexico City--it's an amazing place!

While in San Miguel de Allende in 2023, we had the opportunity to take a balloon ride. It was well worth getting up early and really quite magical. And just last month we watched the balloon festival in Boise where the balloons fly right over the neighborhoods and land where they can in town. Thank you for the article. CDMX is on the top of my list and I would definitely take another balloon ride.

Yep, there are definitely places where the conditions are great for hot-air balloons! In fact, the Albuquerque balloon festival is going on right now!

There are hot air balloon rides on the west coast too. I used to see them at El mirage dry lake near Lancaster, California. The winter mornings at El mirage dry lake are really cold. Perfect for hot air balloons.

There are other hot air balloon rides in Calif. Temecula - this is near San Diego. Napa valley - north of San Francisco.
