Catching up on all my Substack reading, with all the packing and closing my life down in the USA, I just haven´t had a lot of free time to read.

Absolutely, Rob and I love an excuse to go to CDMX. Cerro de la Estrella is we've been wanting to hike next time we were in town.

In CDMX, I aspire to go to a dentist and an ear doctor. The hearing aid (I cringe even writing that) I'm interested in trying to get is sold on a subscription basis. The manufacturer's website says the subscription price varies depending on location; that made me think it'd be cheaper to get them here n CDMX. (That hearing aid is interesting in that you install it so deep down your ear canal that its invisible. That helps those of us too vain to be seen with visible hearing aids!)

I haven’t been to a dentist in CDMX yeet but I’m sure it’s in my future! I bet you’re right about the hearing aid being cheaper in CDMX. Good luck and let us know how it goes with both!

RE Know your Address: I give all my guests a card with my apartment address on it, so they can convey where they are or where they want to go (even if their phone dies or is lost).

Great post! Prices are similar in San Miguel de Allende. Sadly, a friend ended up in the hospital for 5 days in SMA a few weeks ago for what turned out to be a parasitic and multiple bacterial infections. Total cost - $10,000 USD plus another $2000 USD for special antibiotics. So, while healthcare in Mexico is soooo much more affordable than the US, it can still be pretty expensive. Luckily, she has travel insurance that should pay for it, but she had to put up the money first and then get reimbursed.

Wow! your poor friend. I hope she’s on the mend. Agreed, it can still get expensive for sure!

It's far too easy to "trip over a tree root when you’re admiring Mexico City’s architecture"...

I recently spent about 6h at A&E (urgencias) at the San Ángel Roma mostly just having tests and renting the bed, it was 12k pesos all in, which was covered by my insurance but I gather also reasonable to even pay in cash if you are used to US prices? I, of course, would be outraged after growing up on the NHS 😆

Did you trip over a tree root?! I hope you're OK! Yes, that's a reasonable price by US standards, with insurance. It's ridiculously expensive.

Super thorough, Stephanie (or could I say 'thurrott')? Glad the foot is on the mend!

Haha thanks! I love to walk so much, especially in Mexico City. Even though it's a relatively minor injury, it's been frustrating to deal with it!
